Woodturners of the Hunter

- A proud record in Community Projects

The Woodturners of the Hunter have been instrumental in raising in excess of

$530,000.00 for the purchase of specialized equipment for the

John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

This incredible amount has been raised over 12 years as a result of our annual

Woodworking and Hobbies Expos and raffles.

Other initiatives to serve the Less Fortunate members of the Community include:

·        Hand turning 1830 wooden bowls that were then filled with confectionary, gift wrapped and presented to residents of Aged Care Facilities in the Hunter Region.

·        Hand crafted 250 timber ‘play dough’ rolling pins for the Occupational Therapy Department of the John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

·        Making a large number of wooden toys that were distributed to underprivileged children by various charity groups.

·        Supporting Technical Aids for the Disabled (TAD) by developing and manufacturing aids for holding pens/pencils etc for use by people with hand function disabilities.

·        Development and production of book holding aids for residents of Aged Care Facilities.
